Executive Takeaway

The tape unfroze and it broke the way we flagged: META lost EMA20, and breadth is now 3/4 negative. Leadership is narrowing into NVDA (+6.2% vs EMA20, 83rd %ile, +5.6pp over AMD/AVGO) while MSFT bleeds off an extended condition. This is a dispersion book with a 31% conviction ceiling — not a beta re-entry.

Positioning

• NVDA is the only peer-confirmed long with vol priced honestly (IV30 41.1% vs RV20 40.7%); options are the cheaper vehicle there than in MSFT/AMZN, where the IV-RV discounts sit atop 57–62% RV20 and stay suspect.
• MSFT still tops trend (+8.4%, 8.0pp over GOOGL/AMZN) but has unwound from RSI 77.7 to 70.8 and gave back 2.26% — trim-and-wait, not new capital. AMZN holds trend yet is merely in-line with WMT/COST (Δ +1.2pp) at 0% conviction: hold.
• Fund from META (21st %ile, -3.3pp vs GOOGL/SNAP), AAPL (-7.0pp vs MSFT/GOOGL) and TSLA (15th %ile, lagging GM/F with GM +1.4%).

Key Risks

• The equipment bid is one day: AMAT +4.29%/LRCX +4.72%/KLAC +3.88% against 21-day tapes of -7.98%/-5.78%/-9.60%. Don't call that a cycle turn.
• Sub-1.0x RVOL on all seven means neither the NVDA extension nor the META break is volume-confirmed.
• Distribution caps leadership: META COO Olivan sold in size on 8/10, and MSFT's front-expiry ATM put ($20.50) is double the call — the one genuine trend is being hedged, not chased.

Watch

NVDA 8/26 AMC (EPS est 2.13, rev est $93.6B) · 13 days out with IV at realized — that print either validates narrowing AI leadership or takes out the last leg of breadth.

What Changed

• META lost EMA20 exactly as flagged; above-EMA20 breadth 4 → 3, and META fell to the 21st percentile from 29th.
• NVDA extended (74th → 83rd %ile); MSFT's P/C volume collapsed to 0.91 from 2.96, with put premium now dominant.
• Macro marginally friendlier: 2Y/10Y both lower, CPI YoY 3.73% → 3.54%, WTI -2.14%.
